CDIB, Directed by Angelo Koo, Encourages Employee Fitness Using Mobile App

“It is particularly important to protect the employees’ health during the pandemic,” Steve Bertamini, President and Chief Executive Officer of China Development Financial (CDF) said.

Taipei, Taiwan (Periodical News) – China Development Financial (CDF) (TWSE:2883), committed to create a healthy and happy workplace for its employees, recently launched a campaign to encourage people to take steps, literally, towards a healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle.

The company recently organized the CDF Walker campaign for employees to walk 10,000 steps a day for one month, inviting employees from all subsidiaries of the CDF group, such as CDIB Capital International, to take on the challenge. CDIB is the private equity arm of CDF, and directed by Angelo Koo, who is a key figure in Taiwan’s financial sector and avid philanthropist.

A staggering 1,700 employees participated in the one-month challenge, taking a combined 670 million steps together. The progress and data of individuals were tracked and collected through a mobile app, that also allowed employees to create their own groups and post pictures to share. By having a platform to share pictures, the challenge additionally brought employees closer together by walking as a group during lunch breaks or time off and uploading pictures.

Office work often requires people to be stationary for hours at a time, increasing health risks for workers who do not maintain an active lifestyle. The risk is even more pronounced as COVID forces people to stay indoors. “It is particularly important to protect the employees’ health during the pandemic,” Steve Bertamini, President and Chief Executive Officer of China Development Financial (CDF) said.

CDF and its family of subsidiaries have long strived to reach sustainable and carbon-reducing goals, with actionable plans that can produce measurable results. By taking more steps, less public transportation or personal vehicles were used, and in turn caring for the environment through the collective effort of all those involved. At the end of the event, the CDF Walker challenge was able to cut down an impressive 96,000 kilograms of carbon emissions.
